The first realistic combative self defense training programme in Cyprus. Non martial arts and no punching with fists ever needed.
Why no punching? Should't that be your first defense, to punch someone? Anyone claiming to be teaching combative self defense that includes fist punching is probably blindly following some prescribed fighting system and not actually combative training. In the reality of hand to hand combat, in the combative theatre of war, punching was the last thing ever taught to special forces in hand to hand combat. Do you really think to punch someone wearing military clothing, helmet and metal weapons on their body would be a good idea? The risk of breaking your knuckles and fist is just too high. The millions of men trained to kill Nazis during World War II with their bare hands were taught firstly to use their weapons and when needed to use edge of hand and palm heel strikes, never punching.
Yes of course they were encouraged to take up Western boxing and often it was an absolute requirement as part of their training, but this was for the benefit of fight conditioning, not as a means of teaching self defense. Also Judo and Jiujutsu was taught from the benefits of learning grappling and throws. But when it came down to the actual kill or be killed combative self defense, the simplicity of sticking with edge of hand and palm heel strikes was proven to be the most effective and brutal form of kill or be killed self defense when your life depended on it.
V1 FITNEES self defense does not blindly follow any rules of one specific fighting system designed to do nothing more than keep you training and paying money until you get to the top of the grading and belt system. No two people are the same, no two people will ever fight the same, so why would you believe there is one type of specific martial arts self defense for all? "The "my system is better than your system" comes from such a childish mentality of "my daddy is tougher than your daddy". There is NO ONE system or moves that you can learn that is going to make you a superhero ninja capable of defeating 10 men with your bare hands. Also, when all things are equal, the stronger and larger man will (almost) always win in battle, which is why empty hands should also be your last resort, i.e, always train to use a weapon first when ever possible. When the elite special forces go into war zones to kill the enemy, do they go in with empty hands? Nope, they will use the most advanced weapons that their military budgets allow for. The very reason why we offer realistic weapons defense training to all our clients and emphasise that technology should always be your first point of self-defense whenever possible.
Our training simply takes what works from all fighting forms and leaves out the nonsense that is only good for impressing friends at house parties when someone says "show me some moves". If you were to actually demonstrate combative self defense on them, you would send them to hospital afterwards. There is nothing mystical about self defense, nor does it require years of training for black belts or any other form of grading. In fact anyone can learn what they need to know in about 10 weeks of training. The difficult part is implementing it when the adrenaline and fear kicks in when faced with a real life situation. This is why regular and consistent pressure testing training is needed, i.e full contact sparring on concrete floors in reality based scenarios. Because no matter how many cool moves you learn, you will be capable of nothing unless you have a combative mindset. Despite all the B.S. out there being taught as self defense, unless your instructor has the experience to create a combative mind in you, it's all just business as usual.
